SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 6026 Offered June 24, 2008 Commending the Floyd County High School golf team. ---------- Patron-- Reynolds ----------

WHEREAS, the 2007 Floyd County High School golf team capped another outstanding season by winning the Virginia High School League Group A state golf championship; and

WHEREAS, as defending state champions, the Floyd County High School Buffaloes were triumphant in winning a second consecutive state title in the championship tournament held October 8 - 9, 2007, at the Botetourt Country Club; and

WHEREAS, in the course of the exciting two-day state championship, senior Jessica Hollandsworth scored 138, making her the individual Group A title winner; and

WHEREAS, the Floyd County High School Buffaloes had five players in the top 12 and as a team shot the lowest two-day team score in Virginia High School League championship history; and

WHEREAS, the entire team—Jessica Hollandsworth, Matthew Poff, Brian Cox, Jacob Summers, Mitch Clark, Michael Wade, Bradley Gunn, Jeremy Sunshine, and Andrew Blevins—worked hard and made significant contributions throughout the season and the championship tournament; and

WHEREAS, the triumphant performance of the 2007 Buffaloes is a tribute to the talent, dedication, and perseverance of the players; the leadership of Head Coach Skip Bishop and his staff; and the support of the parents, student body, and faculty and leadership of Floyd County High School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the Buffaloes from Floyd County High School on their outstanding 2007 season; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Skip Bishop as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the championship performance of the 2007 Floyd County High School golf team.
